My name is Chaya. I am 48 years old and I am a single mother of four daughters. When I first met H.O.P.E., I was desperate. My husband had left me, leaving me without any money. I was a casual worker and my wages were about 400 Rupees per month. My children and I were starving. I was so desperate, I wanted to drown my four daughters and myself.
This was when I heard of H.O.P.E. I went there and told Sr. Noelline of my pityful situation. She was my last hope. She immediately gave me food for my children and provisions for the next days. She then got admitted my children in a residential school and procured scholarships for the two younger ones. Next she took me to H.O.P.E.’s skill training groups. There I learnt stitching and cooking. After a few weeks of training, she found work for me. I now earn 3000 Rupees per month and I am able to care for me and my children. Two of my daughters are graduates, three are married and all are doing well. This is what H.O.P.E. did for me. I owe them everything that my children and I are today.
